PARENTS TO REDUCE COSTS ON BOOKS

DSC_0814

When we say do it your self, We mean making something by your self to bring positive impact in your life, your family and the community you leave in. Mt. St. Henry’s SS in Mukono is one of the schools where Komo Learning centers DIY Club exists. Its also one of the pioneer schools we started with in 2017. Amazingly their first project was about book making because it could help parents reduce on the cost of the books as a family support, and for the school , skills were acquired by a number of club members of which they are passing them onto new students. This wraps up the beauty of DO IT YOURSELF.

There are more than 10 new unique projects being worked on by our current schools to be implemented in 2020. We are excited about the projects because they cross cut in various sectors from agriculture, environment protection, Food processing, Entertainment, Health to mention but a few.

As we wide up 2019, We have received a number of individual messages from all the schools that we work with. Allan Crispus Tamba (in middle) is the DIY Club president at St. Balikuddembe SS Kisoga as well as the Vice prime minister on the school students leadership body. Allan shared with us his message and Feeling about Do It Yourself Club in his school before the end of the year 2019.

“Hurray!! Its November again…, School gets boring and we are now waiting for promotions into another class or even another level of education, For heaven’s sake, it is all hell for this week. Anyway those are my days, You must be also having yours at school as A DIY fellow or at home as an individual.

However, let me hit the nail straight to the head. I am actually just telling you about what  we learnt from our sessions in this short term.

We had “A goal setting and mind set change” session.  If you can actually contemplate about those topics, you realize we are for real. Aahh… There  is this interesting session i still remember, “Gender and Sex”, It is a mind blowing and interesting one.

To sum it up, we also had “Power dynamics” where we were told of how power is misused and how it should be used. If i were a prophet, I would write a scroll bout DIY but am just A TAMBA :)!. So I only have the capability to put little down for your attention.

If you have read this and you don’t appreciate who taught me, then you are unlucky , look out for the great mentors #SHAKA and #FORTUNATE from Komo Learning Centers

Anyway I would like to wish you A NICE HOLIDAY and MERRY X-MAS 🙂 Hope its not to early. Till then.'”

SESSION ABOUT GOAL SETTING

DSC_0351[1].JPG

My name is ssewanyana bashir From well star bright  secondary school .Am here to talk to about goal setting session. before  joining  DIY club at our school I used to setup goals but I wasn’t able to achieve them because my goals were not smart. But after DIY Club at school i learnt how to set goal setting   from the session i got from our mentors. i discovered the reasons to why I wasn’t able to achieve my goals and now i know how to set  smart goal. What I mean by smart goal

(S) Specific,

(M) Measurable,

(A) Attainable,

(R) Relevant or re warding,

(T) Time bound.

Since then , I set up my goals without any difficult  because I know the 5 steps of goal setting process and these are (1)define what you want to do,(2)find congruence ,(3) do an ecology check,(4)develop a blue print (5) drawing the motivation to achieve your goal.   I thank klc for the support they are giving us such that we are able to build up our thinking capacity and helping us to set our goals and how to  achieve them

HOW SELF AWARENESS SESSION HAS HELPED ME AND PEOPLE AROUND ME

_DSC0021.JPG

Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self Awareness allows me to understand other people, how they perceive me, my attitude and my responses to them. In this  moment

Self awareness is important because when I have a better understanding of myself, I am able to experience myself as unique and separate individual. I am then empowered to make changes and to build on my areas of strength as well as identify areas where I would like to make improvements. Selfawareness is important in every aspect of my life because it means that I have a sound understanding of who am I as a person and how I relate to the world in which I live in. when I am self-aware, I know my strengths, weaknesses and how to manage them at my school and at home

How I have benefited in self awareness skills enriched emotional intelligence and greater empathy and listening skills,

Improved critical-thinking skills and decision making; Strengthened communications and relationships; and. enhanced leadership capabilities and capacity

Thanks KLC for your support which has helped us to improve on our skills

Self confidence
